Ahmedabad: Gujarat Science City, functioning under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Gujarat, celebrated the 235th birth anniversary of Michael Faraday, widely regarded as the “Father of Electricity.” A total of 1,994 participants enthusiastically joined the day-long programme featuring STEM education, scientific demonstrations and experiential learning.
The programme commenced with the registration of participants, followed by a welcome and introductory session highlighting Michael Faraday’s pioneering contributions to electricity, electromagnetism and the advancement of modern science.
The first STEM education session was conducted by STEM expert Ms. Hiral Thakkar. Through engaging explanations and activity-based learning, participants explored fundamental scientific concepts such as atomic structure, Newton’s laws of motion and force.
The second educational session covered important topics including energy, optics, electronics and mathematics. The interactive approach helped participants understand how these scientific principles are connected to everyday life and modern technology.
A major highlight of the programme was a live demonstration of the Faraday Cage at the Hall of Science. The demonstration introduced participants to the scientific principle of electromagnetic shielding and illustrated the continuing relevance of Faraday’s discoveries in electrical safety, communication systems and contemporary technology.
During the concluding segment, participants undertook an educational visit to the various scientific thematic galleries at Gujarat Science City. The interactive exhibits and hands-on experiences enabled them to explore and understand different aspects of science in an engaging environment.
With the active participation of 1,994 individuals, the celebration served as a meaningful tribute to Michael Faraday’s remarkable scientific legacy. Through such educational initiatives, Gujarat Science City continues to promote scientific temper, inspire curiosity among young minds and make science accessible, interactive and enjoyable for everyone.
