*Kochi:* The fifth edition of the Federal Bank Kochi Marathon, which has emerged as a prominent sporting event in Kerala, will be held on February 14, 2027. The official launch of the marathon was held at the Marriott Hotel, with Justice Devan Ramachandran of the Kerala High Court formally inaugurating the event.
Held under the theme “Move with Purpose,”this year’s marathon focuses on the importance of health, fitness and living with a sense of purpose. Justice Devan Ramachandran said that if Kerala is “God’s Own Country,” Kochi is the city dearest to God. He noted that the steady increase in public participation year after year could make it necessary to consider a larger venue for future editions.
The Federal Bank Kochi Marathon is the only marathon in Kerala held under the aegis of the Athletics Federation of India. The event is being organised in association with the Kochi Corporation. Mayor Adv. V.K. Minimol expressed her happiness at being associated with the marathon and said Kochi has always been a city that readily embraces and supports noble initiatives.
C.M. Sashidharan, Zonal Head and Senior Vice President, Federal Bank, said the bank’s continued support for the marathon reflects its commitment to society beyond its core banking operations. He also expressed his delight at being associated with the event for the fifth consecutive year.
A coffee table book commemorating the marathon was also launched at the event. Marathon Goodwill Ambassador Prachi Tehlan handed over the first copy to Kochi City Police Commissioner S. Kaliraj Mahesh Kumar.
Registrations are now open through the official website, www.kochimarathon.in. The event features four categories — the 42.195-km marathon, 21.097-km half marathon, 10-km run and 3-km Green Run. Organisers have announced a 10% discount on registration fees for participants who register before October 15.
The launch event was attended by 2026 Asian Games silver medallist Vidarsha K. Vinod; Federal Bank Vice President K.T. Jayachandran; Aster Medicity Branding & Communication Head Hafis Hassan, Jain University New Initiatives Director Dr. Tom Joseph, CleoSportz Directors Anish Paul, Byju Paul, Sabari R. Nair and MRK Jayaram; and Marathon Race Director Anand Menezes, among others.
