Guwahati: A total of eight people, including a minor girl, who were smuggled with false promises of getting a job in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, have been brought back to Kokrajhar. Kokrajhar Superintendent of Police (SP) Pratik Thube told reporters that eight youths including two girls from remote villages of Kokrajhar were taken to Srinagar in April after being tricked into getting jobs.
SP Thube said he later called his family members after which a police complaint was lodged. Two accused and wife of Dadgiri have been identified as Prabhat Kishan Thakur and Halu alias Shanti alias Reena Basumatari who were arrested for their involvement in smuggling under Runikhata police station in Chirang district.
