A Kerala Court acquits POCSO case accused.

Thiruvananthapuram: A city Court here acquitted an accused in POCSO case for want of reliable evidence from prosecution. The case relating to sexual abuse of a 12 year girl by her maternal uncle.

Contesting the charges of prosecution the Defence Counsel argued that the entire case was a fabricated one for material gains by the parents of the child. A property dispute was the sole reason behind the false case and the prosecution could not prove even one of the charges levelled against the accused during the trial.

According to the prosecution the alleged crime happened on November 21, 2021. In the complaint lodged by the child before the Child line, it is stated that the accused, who is her own maternal uncle, sexually abused her twice while she was watching TV at her mother’s house. The alleged molestation happened when the child was studying in fourth standard, but complaint was lodged after a year of the said incident.

Adv. S. M. Naufi appeared for the accused. The prosecution relied on 22 witnesses and 22 evidences in the case.
