Accused arrested with 90 Kgs of Cannabis, remanded into custody

Prosecution argues that the accused have inter – state drug racket connection

Thiruvananthapuram: The 6th Additional District and Sessions Judge K. Vishnu remanded four accused in to two days custody in connection with 90 Kilos of Cannabis smuggling case. As per the report submitted by the Excise officials, the accused have strong connection with inter- state drug smuggling rackets. The prosecution demands custody of the accused, to find out the marketing networks of Cannabis smuggling rackets.

The accused were booked, along with an Innova Car, by the Excise Range Inspector Mr Sunil Kumar and team from Kannettumukku on 7th May 2023 for smuggling of 90 Kilos of Cannabis. The primary investigation reveals that the Cannabis seized were purchased from Odisha to distribute the same in the Capital City. In order to escape from the Police/ Excise vehicle checking, the wife and daughter of Vishnu, the main accused in the case, were accompanied with the team. The Innova Car is intercepted by the Excise officials based on secret information. Additional Public Prosecutor M. Salahudeen argues that the Cannabis brought by the accused in to the capital city, is for distributing the same among school children. Jagathy Sathyanagar native Akhil R.G @ Bolt Akhil, Maranalloor Karingal native Vishnu @ Bolera Vishnu, Thiruvallam Menilam native Ratheesh @ Chokkan Ratheesh and Thiruvallam Karinkadamukal native Ratheesh are the key accused in this case.
