According to the police report, the Assam Rifles troops launched an operation after receiving specific input on the possible movement of drug consignments along the Indo-Myanmar border from Myanmar to Chandel district. About 3 lakh people live in 250 villages on this border, whose land is on both sides of the border. They live within a 10 km radius of the border.

It will include personnel from Assam Rifles and ITBP. This force will work under ITBP.
