Awareness campaign on wildlife related crime

Haflong  : Under aegis of Dima Hasao Forest West Division, Awareness campaign on wildlife related crime was launched by Chief Conservator of Forest  Muanthang Tungnung, IFS in presence of N Jeme, DFO, West Divn, T. Langthasa, DFO, East Divn, C. Toulor, retired DCF, Anup Biswas, President, Haflong Press Club in a solemn function on Monday.

In this connection a well attended meeting was also held among all the forest officials of all the ranges under West Division at the office of the Divisional Forest Officer, West Division.

All the speakers while appreciating the efforts of the forest officials in curbing the wildlife related crimes stressed on more efforts to be given in this regards and also to create awareness among the masses involving the Gaon Buras of every villages. They also said the forest officials should not encourage the killing of wildlife rather they should convinced them not to commit such crimes in the interest of their next generation.

In his welcome speech, N Jeme, DFO West Division detailed the pros and cons of the wildlife Act and also power and function of the forest officials. He also said all the forest officials should go through the wild life Act for their knowledge.

The Chief Conservator of Forest Muanthang Tungnung, IFS in his encouraging speech appealed to all the forest officials to work together and judiciously relating to wild life. We the forest people are committed to conserve and protect the wildlife and for this awareness among the masses are to be created, this is beginning only, and it would be continued in future also.

Earlier, the entire guests were felicitated with ‘risa’ by the forest officials.
