New Delhi: Bal Bharti Academy, a 55-year-old New Delhi-based NGO with a long-standing legacy of work across Saksham Anganwadi Projects, women empowerment, skill development and sustainable livelihoods, reaffirmed its commitment to grassroots nutrition by participating in the inauguration of the 9th Rashtriya Poshan Maah at an Anganwadi Centre in Kondli, East Delhi.
For over five decades, Bal Bharti Academy has worked closely with communities and government stakeholders to strengthen last-mile delivery of essential services for women and children. Its continued participation in national campaigns such as Rashtriya Poshan Maah reflects this legacy — extending the organisation’s decades of grassroots experience to some of the country’s most pressing nutrition and child development challenges.
The event, organised by the Department of Women and Child Development (DWCD), East District, marked the launch of the month-long campaign being observed from September 9 to October 8 under the national theme, “Hamari Anganwadi, Hamari Jimmedari.” The campaign focuses on strengthening awareness and action around nutrition, health, hygiene and overall well-being among children, women and communities.
Bal Bharti Academy’s continued engagement with the district. Anganwadi Workers and Helpers also presented cultural programmes reflecting the key messages of Rashtriya Poshan Maah.
A special “Best out of Waste” exhibition showcased creative products prepared by Anganwadi Workers and Helpers, highlighting their efforts towards environmental sustainability alongside their work in nutrition and childcare. A healthy food demonstration further reinforced the importance of nutritious, diverse and locally available food, featuring dishes such as ragi vadas, ragi chilla, sabudana idli and healthy sweet laddoos.
Bal Bharti Academy representatives also held discussions with the District Magistrate and District Officer regarding the organisation’s upcoming engagement to strengthen and improve Anganwadi centres in East Delhi — building on its five-decade history of working across education, women empowerment, skill development and sustainable livelihoods.
