SIVASAGAR : In view of the outbreak of African swine fever disease in some areas under the present Sivasagar revenue circle and to prevent the spread of this disease, additional district magistrate of Sivasagar district Sabyasachi Kashyap has issued an order prohibiting the supply, sale, sale of pork etc. in areas under sivasagar revenue circle. According to the ban, the supply of pork, pork products and pigs has been banned in areas under the revenue circle and in Sivasagar town.
The sale of pork and pork products has been banned in areas under Sivasagar revenue circle and in Sivasagar town. Slaughtering and trading of pigs has been completely banned in areas under Sivasagar revenue circle and in Sivasagar town. In case of death of pigs in other parts of the district, the attention of the veterinary department will have to be traced and the body of the dead pig has to be buried by digging pits through bio-security methods. Pig growers will have to follow biosafety measures to ensure that the disease is not transmitted elsewhere. Permission of the veterinary department has to be taken to supply any type of pig feed. The ban has come into force with immediate effect and violators will be punishable under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.
