BTC budget session from today

Kokrajhar: Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Chief and in-charge Finance Hagrama Mohilary on Tuesday placed Rs.4667.7662 crore with a surplus of Rs.42.5206 crore of normal budget of BTC for the year 2019-20. The two-day budget session of the Bodoland Territorial Council Legislative Assembly start from today at BTC Assembly in Kokrajhar.

The budget stresses on rural development, health, improving road communication, education, and agriculture among others development works in the BTAD.

 Later talking to Reporters, the BTC chief said attention has been given to all round development of BTC. He said in addition to the state plan fund, there are a number of centrally sponsored schemes being implemented for development of rural infrastructure, ensure employment and economic development. ‘

Earlier the Speaker Tridip Daimary announced  the report of the Business Advisory Committee’s (BAC) under Rule 230 of the council legislative assembly  of the budget session.

The session started with a question hour where issues mainly related to development, flood, erosion, education, water resource, social welfare and agriculture were raised by members of the opposition.

Opposition leader Rwngwra Narzary of United People’s Party-Liberal (UPPL) termed it a normal budget with nothing special. He said there was no enhancement on the budget to BTC by the state. There should have been a 12.9 per cent enhancement in the plan budget of the BTC as per the population but that did not happen,” he said.
