Paris: At the Paris Olympics, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has deferred its decision on ace Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat’s plea against her disqualification until Tuesday. The new deadline for the Sole Arbitrator, Dr. Annabelle Bennett, to issue her verdict is 9:30 pm Indian Time on the 13th of August. The International Olympic Committee is also a party in this case, and the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has become involved as an affected party. In her appeal, Phogat has requested a joint silver medal, as she was found to be overweight by about 100 grams after winning her semi-final bout in the 50-kilogram category. Senior advocate Harish Salve is representing her case before the Court. The hearing has already concluded.
