Bhopal : Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan will honour those personalities of Madhya Pradesh on February 4, who have been announced to be conferred with Padma Shri this year. The award ceremony will be organized at the Chief Minister’s residence in the evening.
Among the personalities of Madhya Pradesh to be conferred Padamshree this year are Late Dr. NP Mishra in medical field, Smt. Durgabai Vyam, Shri Arjun Singh Dhurve and Shri Ram Sahay Pandey in the field of art and Shri Awadh Kishore Jadia in the field of education and literature. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan will honor them all. Shri Sunil Mishra, son of Late Dr. NP Mishra will receive the honor on his father’s behalf.
Late Dr. NP Mishra
Dr. Narendra Prasad Mishra, a world-renowned medical expert, who is called the Gyankosh of medical science, was the pride of Madhya Pradesh. He provided in-depth knowledge and training of medical science to thousands of students in the positions he held which included lecturer, reader, dean and head of the department. After the Bhopal gas tragedy, he made extraordinary medical arrangements for thousands of victims. In a very short time, he admitted 10 thousand 700 patients in Hamidia Hospital with only 800 beds and made proper treatment arrangements and treated one lakh 73 thousand outpatients. In this regard, the Journal of American Medicine published an editorial on him.
Smt. Durgabai Vyam
Smt. Durgabai Vyam, a resident of Patangarh under Karanjia development block of Dindori district, has done excellent work in the field of Gondi painting. Presently Smt. Durgabai works in Gond style of tribal art in Bhopal. The themes of her painting are rooted in tribal folk-tales and mythology. She has given excellent performance of Gondi art in India and abroad and has created a series of paintings of airplanes in the Gond style.
Shri Arjun Singh Dhurve
Shri Arjun Singh Dhurve has made invaluable contribution in getting special recognition to the tribal culture of Madhya Pradesh. Maintaining the flow of Baiga dance and culture, he has brought folk art to the top. He is a resident of Dhurkuta, Baigachak area of Dindori district. He became the first postgraduate teacher of the Baiga tribe. In the year 1993-94, Shri Dhurve was honored with Tulsi Samman by the state government for his artistic promotion and development of tribal estates. By giving performances of Baiga Pradhan dance, which is the main dance of Baiga tribe, he has made a carved a niche for himself and the tribal art and culture of the state.
Pt. Ram Sahay Pandey
Pt. Ramsahay Pandey acquired recognition for the songs, music and culture of Bundelkhand and got Rai dance a reputation at the international level. He has done remarkable work through Rai dance to connect the people of Bedia community with the main stream of the society. Shri Ram Sahay Pandey of Kaneradeva, Sagar has been doing Rai dance since the age of 12. He has performed Rai dance in many countries including Japan, Hungary, France, Mauritius, Dubai and Germany. He has been honoured with the Shikhar Samman, National Tagore Award, National Tulsi Award etc.
Dr. Avadh Kishore Jadia
Shri Awadh Kishore Jadia of Harpalpur in Chhatarpur district is a well-known Bundeli poet. Along with Bundeli language, he has also written many poems in Braj and Hindi language. Shri Jadia has received many awards and honors in the field of literature. Former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Rajmata Smt. Vijayaraje Scindia were his admirers. Some of his poems are also included in the education curriculum of Madhya Pradesh.
