CureMeAbroad Facilitates ₹40 Lakh Treatment Journey for Australian Couple

CureMeAbroad, a medical travel and patient-navigation platform, has facilitated the treatment journey of Australian couple Joshua Finlay and Tegan Durham, who chose India for a complex combination of aesthetic and dental procedures. Their experience comes amid the evolution of India’s medical value travel ecosystem, as international patients increasingly look beyond treatment costs to factors such as transparency, specialist access and coordinated support.

The couple, who had previously travelled to Turkey for plastic surgery, returned to international healthcare this year for a more extensive treatment plan. Their India journey, spanning August 31 to October 11, includes abdominoplasty, thigh lifts, breast revision surgery, brachioplasty, liposuction and dental procedures across multiple healthcare providers.

The overall journey is valued at approximately ₹45 lakh (around AUD 66,000), covering treatment, travel, accommodation and on-ground coordination, with around ₹40 lakh (AUD 59,000) spent on medical procedures.

For the couple, the decision to travel overseas was shaped by both treatment requirements and the complexity of coordinating multiple procedures. CureMeAbroad supported their journey by helping them compare treatment options, connect with specialists and coordinate consultations, procedures and on-ground requirements.

“Having already travelled overseas for treatment, we knew how much planning goes into something like this. What stood out this time was being able to see the treatment options, doctors, costs and the overall journey more clearly before making a decision,” said Josh and Tegan.

Patient navigation gains importance in medical value travel

The case comes as India continues to attract international patients. Government data shows foreign medical tourist arrivals increased from 1.83 lakh in 2020 to 6.59 lakh in 2023, while provisional 2025 figures had crossed 4.5 lakh by November.

As international healthcare journeys become more complex, patient-navigation platforms are emerging as an additional layer between patients and healthcare providers. International patients often need to evaluate doctors and hospitals remotely while simultaneously managing consultations, treatment planning, travel, accommodation and recovery.

Aditya Oza, Co-Founder & CEO, CureMeAbroad, said, “International patients are not simply choosing a hospital; they are navigating an entire healthcare journey. Josh and Tegan had already experienced medical travel in Turkey, so their decision to undertake a more complex treatment journey in India through CureMeAbroad reflects the need for greater coordination and transparency. The opportunity for India is to make the international patient experience as seamless and structured as the clinical care itself.”

CureMeAbroad currently works with 400+ accredited hospitals across six countries, with more than 22,500 patients engaging with the platform every month and access to over 16,000 specialists and services. Its AI-powered ‘Plan My Journey’ tool is designed to help patients build personalised treatment pathways, while the platform facilitates journeys across areas including oncology, orthopaedics, neurology, fertility, dental and aesthetic healthcare.

The company currently facilitates medical journeys across destinations including India, Thailand, South Korea, Mexico and Turkey, with a focus on bringing treatment discovery, specialist access and travel coordination together through a single platform.
