Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the narcotics and drug trade will not be allowed to flourish in Madhya Pradesh. This illegal trade will be annihilated. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan e-dedicated the drug de-addiction centre today for the people who have fallen prey to drugs in Indore. On this occasion, he also dedicated a Mobile Drug Addiction Centre. Chief Minister Chouhan expressed satisfaction over the action taken by the administration in Indore against drug dealers in the past. At the airport, Chief Minister Chouhan made it clear to the senior officers of Indore administration that those who indulge in drug smuggling should be hit at the roots.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and MP Jyotiraditya Scindia today reached Indore in the evening. MPs including Shankar Lalwani welcomed him at the airport. Former Minister Tulsi Silavat also reached Indore along with Chief Minister Chouhan and MP Scindia. Chief Minister Chouhan and MP Scindia attended various marriage functions in Indore and blessed the newly-weds. They visited the residence of Hatpipalya MLA Manoj Chaudhary, Govind Malu, Sanjay Shukla and blessed the newly-wed.
Benefits from Drug Treatment Centre
Divisional Commissioner Dr. Pawan Sharma said that the drug treatment centre (drug de-addiction centre) being started in Indore today is approved under the drug de-addiction programme. This programme will be implemented by National Centre AIIMS and Regional Centre KEM Mumbai. He informed that through this centre, services like OPD, IPD, free essential medicines and psychological measures such as counseling and IEC will be provided for the awareness of the community. Superintendent Mental Hospital, Indore will be the nodal officer of this centre. Presently a 10 bedded ward is being launched in the drug treatment centre, which will be extended to 50 beds in a month. He informed that a mobile unit is being started in the city to spread awareness about de-addiction and to provide de-addiction services to needy people. Medical officers and staff will also be available in this mobile de-addiction centre.
The Divisional Commissioner informed that Superintendent Mental Hospital Indore has been appointed in-charge for the systematic operation of seven drug de-addiction and rehabilitation centres being run through the Red Cross Society and NGOs in the district and experts of the Mental Hospital have been appointed as nodal officers for systematic supervision and technical guidance at each centre. Ayurvedic medicines are being used for drug de-addiction at Ankur Drug De-addiction and Rehabilitation Centre, Rau, run by NGO, through which around 1500 OPD and 150 IPD persons have been treated.
