New Delhi: The Election Commission of India has deployed additional counting observers and police observers in West Bengal to ensure smooth and secure vote counting.
A total of 165 additional counting observers have been assigned to assist the existing counting observers, while 77 police observers have been deployed across the state to strengthen security and monitor law and order arrangements around counting centres.
The Commission stated that these measures are intended to ensure the counting process is conducted in a secure, peaceful, intimidation-free, and fully transparent manner.
However, the Commission has clarified that police observers will not enter the counting halls under any circumstances on the day of counting.
The Commission has also announced that identity cards for returning officers, counting personnel, candidates, and their election agents will be issued exclusively through a dedicated module on the ECINET platform. Entry to all counting centres will be strictly regulated through QR code-enabled photo identity cards generated via ECINET.
