Family members of nine jailed Khalistani supporters meet inmates in Dibrugarh jail.

Guwahati: The family of Khalistani supporter Amritpal Singh, lodged in Assam’s Dibrugarh jail, today visited him. At the same time, the family members of other prisoners lodged with Amritpal have also met him. During this time, lawyers and members of SGPC have also spoken. Amritpal Singh, a pro-Khalistan activist, is currently lodged in Dibrugarh jail in Assam. According to sources, his family members and his lawyer have also met him today. A 12-member member member of the jailed Khalistani activist, including two lawyers, arrived at the Central Jail in Dibrugarh on April 27, an official source said. Nine of Waris Punjab Dey’s jailed Khalistani supporters, one each and a family member, are meeting him at Dibrugarh Central Jail. However, no family member of Amritpal Singh visited him today. The SGPC-led team comprises two lawyers each – Bhagwant Singh Sialka, Advocate Simranjit Singh and another member.Security was beefed up at the Dibrugarh Central Jail today due to the arrival of family members of the jailed Khalistani activist. Additional CRPF forces were deployed outside the jail today. On April 27, Advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka, a member of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), had said he would challenge the board’s order in the high court. We have reached to leave for Punjab after meeting the detainees and meeting the family members of the detainees with their respective kin. Whatever be the order of the board, we will try to challenge it in the high court. A team of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) members, along with family members of the eight detainees, reached the Dibrugarh Central Jail here on the morning of April 27.
