Five including a Bangladeshi national with al Qaeda link arrested

GUWAHATI :Assam Police has achieved a major breakthrough. The police here have arrested five members of a Bangladesh outfit allegedly linked to al-Qaeda. According to police, based on intelligence inputs, they raided Barpeta and Kalgachia police stations of Assam last night and arrested the five accused. Incriminating documents and electronic devices have been recovered from the possession of the accused. Director General of Police Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta said that five persons, including a Bangladeshi national, have been arrested for their alleged links to a jehadi group based in the neighbouring country.

 According to police, Mohammad Suman alias Saiful Islam alias Harun Rashid, Khairul Ilam (27), Badshah Solomon (28), Naushad Ali (40) and Taimur Rehman Khan (54) have been arrested. All the accused are residents of Bangladesh. During interrogation of the accused, it was revealed that Saiful, a resident of Bangladesh, allegedly came to India illegally and started working as a teacher in a mosque in Dhakalipara area.Pakistani intelligence agency ISIS engages terror outfits to create unrest in India.

 Based on an intelligence report, DGP Mahanta said that the Bangladeshi national, identified as Mohammad Suman alias Saiful Islam, had instigated four others to develop Barpeta as a basis for jehadi work for AQIS. The DGP said documents and electronic devices were recovered from them. In the meantime, he attached four people to an organisation called Ansarullah Bangla Team. Prepared mentally to join this terrorist organization. His intention was to make Barpeta district a den of jehadi activities as well as to carry out illegal activities. Incriminating documents and electronic devices have been recovered from the possession of the accused. All the accused are allegedly linked to a Bangladesh-based outfit having links to the terror outfit Al Qaeda.
