In the 29 subjects for which GATE 2023 was held, around 1 lakh or 18 per cent candidates have qualified as per the recent data from IIT Kanpur.
Around 5.7 lakh students have appeared in GATE 2023 examinations this time, and once again students of Heritage Institute of Technology scored high making the entire Institute proud.
It was Ankita Chowdhury from B.Tech- Biotechnology, Batch-2023, securing an All India Rank of 40 and Chandrika Sarkar from the same stream and Batch securing an All India Rank of 45.
Around 14097 students from all over the Country appeared for GATE 2023 in Biotechnology and the duo had made our Institute proud where the qualifying rate was very low.
“I am grateful to my faculty members who have guided throughout these preparatory years for GATE. Also it would not have been possible without the constant support and encouragement from my parents. I am delighted to see my constant hard work and perseverance finally pay off,” said Ankita who is also an avid content writer.
“The first time I did not qualify GATE but after much consideration and motivation from my close friends as well as teachers, I thought of attempting it again and giving my all. Finally I got it and I am happy and grateful for this rank. I mostly solved the last ten years question papers as well as gave few mock tests prior to the exam,” said Chandirka who aspires to make a career in Research and Development.
Recently during the Covid times, an alumnus from the same Department Ms. Chandrabali Datta, was a part of the Jenner Institute, Oxford University, UK involved in making the vaccine Covishiled for the deadly Covid-19 virus. Moreover from the same Department, an alumnus, Dr. Chiranjib Mukherjee was a part of NASA MARS Mission 2020.
“I feel proud for my students who have once again scored a promising rank in GATE 2023. Every year from department of biotechnology, our students score high in GATE examination. In 2019, one of our students Sayantika Ghosh, secured All India Rank 1 in GATE examinations which is still cherishable,” said Prof. Srabanti Basu, Head of the Department, Department of Biotechnology, Heritage Institute of Technology.
