Global Investors Rally at Delhi Curtain-Raiser for Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2027

New Delhi: In an influential curtain-raising event held at Bharat Mandapam, Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel extended a compelling invitation to investors and entrepreneurs worldwide, urging them to partner in shaping a ‘Viksit Gujarat’ for a ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’. The briefing for the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2027 (VGGS-2027) showcased the state’s two-and-a-half-decade journey as India’s foremost investment destination—a legacy initiated under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

“Today, the Vibrant Gujarat Summit stands as a symbol of global industrial trust and a dynamic knowledge-sharing platform,” said the Chief Minister, crediting the state’s sustained appeal to policy stability, transparency, and swift governance. He reaffirmed Gujarat’s readiness to emerge as a leader not only in traditional sectors but also in future industries, aligning with the ‘Saptadhara’ development pillars outlined by the Prime Minister on Independence Day.

The high-profile session was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Shri Harsh Sanghavi, Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, senior officials from central and state governments, and a robust representation of top industrialists and investors. Together, they highlighted Gujarat’s transformation from a regional economy of Rs. 1.42 lakh crore in 2002-03 to one approximating Rs. 27 lakh crore today—contributing 8.2% to India’s GDP with only 5% of its population and 6% of its land area.

A Model Built on Trust and Execution

Deputy Chief Minister Sanghavi emphasised that ‘Team Gujarat’ operates on the principle that “vision without execution is mere speech.” He presented data underscoring the state’s economic clout: Gujarat attracts 18% of India’s manufacturing output, handles over 40% of national cargo through its ports, and has drawn USD 74.6 billion in FDI to date. “Every rupee invested here is secure and assured of returns,” he stated, noting that transparency and speed in clearances have been significantly enhanced, with daily incentive-file processing rising from 160 to nearly 400.

New-Age Sectors in Focus

Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya spotlighted emerging opportunities in green hydrogen, hydrogen storage, data centres, and semiconductors, urging investors to engage deeply with VGGS-2027. He framed Gujarat’s business tradition—stretching from the ancient port of Lothal to today’s globally integrated supply chains—as a natural foundation for future-ready industries.

Chief Secretary Shri M. K. Das highlighted that Gujarat’s GSDP has multiplied approximately 20-fold over two decades, with current growth hovering between 10-11%. “The Vibrant Summit initiative has been instrumental in forging Gujarat’s identity as a growth model on the global stage,” he said.

Industry Validation and Forward Vision

ASSOCHAM President Shri Nirmal Minda, the national industry partner for VGGS, reported that Gujarat attracted about USD 51 billion in foreign investment between October 2019 and March 2026, with exports reaching approximately USD 55 billion by June 2026—accounting for 27% of India’s state-wise exports. He outlined ASSOCHAM’s plans to deepen India-Japan industrial collaboration, potentially establishing an integrated ecosystem in Gujarat for Japanese MSMEs.

Additional Chief Secretary (Industries) Smt. Mamta Verma reinforced that Gujarat’s maritime legacy now positions it as a critical node in global supply chains, ready to host the next wave of investment in soft power, semiconductors, fintech, AI, and the green economy.

The curtain-raiser firmly set the stage for VGGS-2027—framed around the theme “Viksit Gujarat – Shaping Global Future”—as not merely an event, but a pivotal platform where policy, partnership, and progress converge to redefine Gujarat’s role in India’s journey toward 2047.
