Heavy rainfall likely to hit isolated places of coastal Maharashtra: IMD

The India Meteorological Department has said that heavy rainfall is likely to hit isolated places of coastal Maharashtra, including Mumbai, till 15th August. Deputy director general of IMD Mumbai, KS Hosalikar said that coastal areas as well as ghat sections of Maharashtra have shown dense cloud formation and many areas are expected to receive medium to heavy rainfall over the next two days.

While Mumbai is expected to receive light to moderate showers, neighbouring districts of Thane, Palghar, Raigad and Ratnagiri may witness heavy rains at isolated places. A similar forecast has been issued for Pune, Kolhapur and Satara districts as well.

However, districts in North Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha may receive light to moderate rainfall in the same period.
