Heritage Group of Institutions, Kolkata, hosted the Chinmaya Mission’s second edition of the Chinmaya Indic Fest on Friday, 29th August, on the theme “Revealing India to Curious Indians.” The two-day celebration seeks to open windows into India’s vast civilizational wisdom through lectures, workshops, cultural performances, and exhibitions. The fest will continue till 30th August.
The festival was inaugurated by Swami Mitranandaji, National Director of the All India Chinmaya Yuva Kendra in the presence of Dr. L. Sampath Kumar, Head of the School of Linguistics & Literacy Studies, Chinmaya Vishwa Vidyapeetham; Prof. Ganti Suryanarayana Murthy, National Coordinator, Indian Knowledge System, Ministry of Education, Govt. of India, Shri H.K. Chaudhary, Chairman, Heritage Group of Institutions, Shri P.R. Agarwala, Chairman, Heritage Institute of Technology, Shri Vikram Swarup, Vice Chairman, Heritage Group of Institutions, Shri Jaydeep Chitlangia, Founder Trustee, Heritage Group of Institutions and Shri Gaurav Swarup, Founder Trustee, Heritage Group of Institutions.
The showstopper of Day 1 was an elaborate exhibition on Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), conceived and curated by the students and faculty of Heritage. Spread across themed zones, the exhibition unfolded like a journey through time — immersing visitors in India’s contributions to science, philosophy, art, and culture. Every corner of the exhibition reflected the passion of Heritage students and faculty — through handmade models, interactive digital displays, manuscripts, paintings, and storytelling. The exhibition became a living classroom, where the wisdom of centuries met the imagination of youth.
During the inaugural session, Swami Mitranandaji, in his keynote address, said: “Knowledge is not only about information but about transformation. India’s traditions—from yoga and Ayurveda to philosophy—teach us how to live meaningfully. Heritage has created a powerful platform for today’s youth to rediscover this wisdom.”
Prof. Ganti Suryanarayana Murthy noted: “The Ministry of Education is committed to mainstreaming Indian Knowledge Systems in modern academia. Exhibitions like the one here show how these ideas can be communicated with creativity and relevance.”
Shri H.K. Chaudhary, Chairman, Heritage Group of Institutions, remarked: “Heritage has always sought to blend modern education with timeless values. The Indic Fest and its exhibition on IKS strengthen our mission of creating global citizens rooted in India’s ethos.”
Shri P.R. Agarwala, Chairman, Heritage Institute of Technology, added: “The students’ passion was visible in every corner of the exhibition. Today’s youth are curious about their roots, and this fest gives them a vibrant platform to explore India’s intellectual and cultural treasures.”

The exhibition stands as proof of how students can rethink knowledge beyond textbooks and give life to India’s timeless heritage.”
The opening day also featured cultural performances and interactive sessions that set the tone for the festival. On 30th August, the Indic Fest will continue with thematic lectures, student-led presentations, workshops, and performances — ensuring that the celebration of India’s knowledge traditions continues to inspire.
