Heritage Institute of Technology Hosts Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Awareness Programme for New Students

Kolkata : As part of COMPASS 2026, the Induction and Orientation Programme for the newly admitted batches of B.Tech and MBA students, Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata, organised a Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Awareness Programme on de-addiction on August 6, 2026.

The awareness session was conducted by Dr. Sachin Parab, De-addiction Counsellor and National Coordinator, Brahma Kumaris Medical Wing, who interacted with the young students and sensitised them to the growing challenges associated with substance abuse and addiction.

Through an engaging and insightful session, Dr. Parab highlighted the physical, psychological and social consequences of substance abuse and emphasised the importance of self-awareness, self-discipline and making responsible choices. He encouraged students to develop the strength to resist peer pressure and adopt healthy and constructive lifestyles.

The session assumed special significance as the students begin a new phase of their academic and personal lives. The programme sought not only to create awareness about the harmful effects of addiction but also to encourage young minds to become responsible individuals and contribute towards building a healthier and drug-free society.

The Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, a nationwide campaign aimed at creating awareness about substance abuse and encouraging communities to work towards a drug-free India, provided an important platform for engaging with the youth on this critical issue.

The session formed an integral part of COMPASS 2026, which has been designed to help the newly admitted students transition into campus life while exposing them to diverse perspectives, values and life skills beyond the classroom.

The programme concluded with a renewed call to the students to make informed choices, prioritise their wellbeing and become responsible citizens who can contribute meaningfully to the vision of a Nasha Mukt Bharat.
