Mumbai: House of Akina, Bandra, is set to welcome Sarah Todd, the Australian chef, restaurateur, cookbook author and MasterChef Australia favourite, for an exclusive culinary experience on Thursday, 1 October 2026, in association with Dewar’s. The evening will feature a specially curated four-course dining experience, offering guests a chance to experience Sarah’s take on flavour and the influences that have shaped her cooking. A familiar face to Indian audiences, Sarah has built a career spanning restaurants, television and cookbooks, with a longstanding connection to India.
Inspired by Akina’s story as a woman who travelled the world and returned home with the flavours, experiences and friendships she collected along the way, House of Akina brings these influences to its table. Dewar’s joins in to bring Sarah Todd to the city for this special evening.
For the evening, Sarah will create a special four-course menu that reflects the flavours and influences that have shaped her cooking over the years. Rooted in her Australian upbringing and informed by her time in India and travels across the world, the menu celebrates produce, balanced flavours and familiar ideas reimagined with Sarah’s distinctive touch.
The menu opens with The Harbour Tomato, a golden tomato and kokum consommé with heirloom tomato, cucumber and brun maska, followed by The Bombay Coast, featuring seasonal surmai in a Madras coconut gravy, or Carrots of Mumbai, a vegetarian play of roasted carrot, savoury halwa and East Indian bottle-masala. For the main course, Sarah joins Armaan Jain in reimagining his family’s Junglee Maas, or its vegetarian alternative Junglee Sabzi pairing the rich, spiced preparation with handmade tortellini, curry-leaf herb oil, peanut-podi crumble and bajra. The evening concludes with a Spiced Pumpkin Tart with Coca-Cola ice cream or a decadent Sweet Cheese Board with blue-cheese and dark-chocolate ice cream, caramelised fig and Dewar’s 12 jaggery caramel.
The menu will be complemented by a specially crafted cocktail pairing for each course, created to bring out the flavours of Sarah’s menu. The first course will be paired with The Mumbai Melting Pot, a Dewar’s 18 cocktail with Irani chai, kokum, ginger and sweet lime. The main course will be accompanied by The Konkan Blend, featuring Dewar’s 15, kokum, coconut, green chilli and ginger, clarified for a lighter finish. To close the evening, The Bombay Sunset, made with Dewar’s 15, saffron and ice cream soda, will be paired with dessert, adding a playful, nostalgic note to the final course.
What makes the evening particularly special is the setting – Sarah’s menu will be experienced at House of Akina, where food, stories and people come together around the table. Her four-course menu will be served in the restaurant’s warm, contemporary setting, creating an intimate evening of good food and conversation, and a chance to experience Sarah’s cooking in a way that feels naturally at home at Akina.
With a limited number of tables available, the dinner offers an intimate way to experience Sarah Todd’s cooking in Mumbai for one night only. Tickets are available exclusively on District, priced at INR 5,500 + taxes per person.
