IMD forecasts severe heatwave in parts of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh; Heavy rainfall likely in Northeast

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heatwave to severe heatwave conditions in isolated places in West Madhya Pradesh and West Rajasthan today. East Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra will also witness heatwave conditions at isolated places.

Meanwhile, the Weather agency has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya today.

According to IMD, heavy rainfall is also predicted over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Kerala, Mahe, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during the next three days.

Places over Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Chandigarh, Odisha, West Bengal and the Northeastern states are expected to experience thunderstorms and lightning today. According to the Met department, thundersquall conditions are expected during the next 2 days over Jharkhand, Coastal Karnataka, and North Interior Karnataka.
