IMD predicts heavy rainfall at isolated places in WB and Sikkim

New Delhi: A spell of moderate rains along with thundershowers drenched parts of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh yesterday, while Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana witnessed light showers in some areas.

The India Meteorological Department has forecast light to moderate rain at a few places in Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan in the next 24 hours, and rainfall along with thundershower for Uttar Pradesh for Tuesday.

The IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim today. It has also predicted heavy rainfall at isolated places over Uttarakhand, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Kerala today.

The weather department said, strong wind with speed reaching 45-55 kmph is very likely over the Southwest Arabian Sea today. Squally weather with wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph is likely over Southeast Arabian Sea and along and off the Kerala- Lakshadweep areas today, it added. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into these areas.
