New Delhi: The maiden edition of Guwahati Comic Con, presented by Maruti Suzuki Arena and powered by Crunchyroll, received an encouraging response with footfall of over 15,000 from fans across the Northeast region. The two-day event, held from November 22 to 23 at the Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex (formerly known as Sarusajai Stadium), became a vibrant hub for comic readers, creators, illustrators, cosplayers, anime lovers and every pop culture enthusiast across the region.
Following the first day, Day 2 maintained the momentum with an exciting lineup of shows including a special session which marked 45 years of Amar Chitra Katha, highlighting its legacy and cultural impact. The day also saw the launch of World of Butterfingers Vol. 2 by Khyrunnisa A and Abhijeet Kini, alongside the impactful debut of Where We Left Off, an indie comic on climate reality by Nikhil Kamath and Abhijeet Kini. An interactive Wingstar activity from Tinkle added a fun, engaging break for participants.
Attendees joined Bill Golliher for an artists’ session, where the legendary Archie Comics creator along with fellow artists engaged in live sketches, storytelling and insider insights.
Comic Con, being a youth-centric event, promises an experience like no other. Alongside artists, storytellers, and content creators, the crowd was treated to standout live performances. It was truly heartwarming to watch Once Fly Rock honour Zubeen Garg with a beautiful tribute. Stand-up comedian Anirban Dasgupta kept the audience laughing, while popular artist EPR Iyer, the king of conscious rap, captivated fans with an explosive blend of rap, poetry, and social commentary. His powerful lyrics and genre-bending style, coupled with a tribute to Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington created a high-voltage act that truly resonated with the audience.
The two-day event concluded with Guwahati’s biggest cosplay showdown, the Indian Championship of Cosplay 2026: Guwahati Qualifier. Cosplayers were seen showcasing extraordinary skills, capturing every intricate detail of characters they portrayed. Cosplayers were dressed as Red Hood, Deadpool, including in popular anime characters like Mao Mao from The Apothecary Diaries, Zenitsu from Demon Slayer, and Amane Misa from Death Note, Anya from Spy × Family, as well as gaming characters such as Aglaea from Honkai: Star Rail, and Capitano from Genshin Impact.
Several cosplayers participated, among whom Arshy Deori portraying as Nikke won the prize pool of ₹50,000, exciting goodies, and won the qualifying spot.
Throughout the weekend, the picturesque land of Assam witnessed an engaging mix of creator sessions, performances, interactive experiences and immersive activities, joined by international and national content creators. Visitors were amazed by the intricate detailing and craftsmanship displayed by cosplayers. Kids and parents alike were seen taking photos with their favourite characters and trying out various gaming zones, including the Maruti Suzuki Arena reflex zones, Crunchyroll booth, which included a recreated Spy x Family room and a Demon Slayer-themed setup, RedBull Gaming Ground, NODWIN Gaming Challenger Arena, the Logitech Race for Real simulator, and a classic PSP zone.
The final day was especially memorable for gaming enthusiasts, with the Royal Challenge Packaged Drinking Water booth hosting leading Indian gaming YouTuber Sc0ut (Tanmay Singh) for a fan meet-and-greet, alongside the brand’s Challenger Gaming Zone featuring an immersive VR cricket experience.
There was even a tattoo stall where fans at Comic Con inked a special memory.
As Guwahati Comic Con concludes, the excitement now travels onward to the next grand stop to Delhi Comic Con from December 5th to 7th, 2025.
