Joining BJP: Congress expels MLA for anti-party activities in Assam.

 Guwahati : Congress expelled Assam MLA Ajanta Diogh from primary membership on Friday for anti-party activities. According to a statement issued by the party’s organization general secretary KC Venugopal, Congress president Sonia Gandhi approved the expulsion of Ajanta. Former Assam minister Ajanta is being put atkaladi to join the BJP. Amidst these speculations, the STATE Congress Committee had issued notices to them on Thursday seeking clarifications. Amidst the speculation, it was taken that Ms. Neg, who was a close confidant of former chief minister Tarun Gogoi and is part of her cabinet, could join the BJP. A four-time MLA from Golaghat constituency had recently met Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Convener of North East Democratic Alliance Himanta Biswa Sarma. Assam Pradesh Congress Committee General Secretary (Organization) Ranjan Bora said that after meeting with him, Ms. Neg was asked by the party’s state unit to show why action would not be taken against them. Ms. Neg was expelled from the party, he said.

“The Congress president has approved the proposal for expulsion of Assam MLA, Ajanta Neg with immediate effect on the proposal to indulge in anti-party activities from the party’s primary membership,” AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal said in a statement. Ms. Neg was removed from the post of District Congress Committee Chairman of Golaghat on December 18 as Mr. Soowal held a closed-door meeting at his official residence in the presence of Mr. Sarma. He had handled important departments of social welfare and public affairs in the Congress governments in Assam. There have been speculations that Ms. Nog may join the Saffron Party during the three-day visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to the North East. Mr Shah’s arrive here on Friday night
