Malaysia Aviation Group Welcomes Rating Affirmation, Outlines Growth Plans

KLIA – Malaysia Aviation Group (“MAG” or “the Group”) welcomes the recent credit rating assignment by MARC Ratings of MARC-1IS and AAAIS on the Group’s proposed Islamic Commercial Papers (ICP) and Islamic Medium-Term Notes (IMTN) Programmes (“Sukuk Programme”), reflecting the Group’s steady operational performance, financial discipline, and ongoing strategic execution under its Long-Term Business Plan 3.0 (LTBP3.0). This marks MAG’s inaugural credit rating from MARC Ratings, achieving the agency’s highest possible rating scale.

This assessment reinforces MAG’s strategic position as the parent of national carrier Malaysia Airlines Berhad and Malaysia’s premier integrated aviation services provider. It underscores confidence in the Group’s long-term trajectory, backed by strong strategic alignment with MAG’s majority shareholder, Khazanah Nasional Berhad.

To support this momentum of its next phase of enterprise transformation, MAG is actively advancing key strategic projects to build capacity and accelerate commercial expansion. This includes ongoing investments in fleet modernisation, network growth, and expanded infrastructure such as the development of the new in-flight catering facility. To fund these initiatives sustainably, the Group continuously evaluates diverse, proactive capital options including the proposed Sukuk Programme, aligned with its long-term financial roadmap.

Commenting on the credit rating and ongoing developments, President and Group Chief Executive Officer of MAG, Captain Nasaruddin A. Bakar, said, “Our trajectory under LTBP3.0 is guided by sound financial planning, operational rigour, and clear commercial priorities. MARC Ratings’ affirmation provides support for our strategic direction as we plan beyond 2030. We remain focused on pursuing growth in a measured way, including enhancing our network and in-flight services and scaling our technical MRO capabilities. These investments also contribute to Malaysia’s ambition to become a leading regional aerospace hub and support the development of the national aviation ecosystem.”

MAG will continue to maintain strict fiscal governance and appropriate market disclosures as it executes its growth roadmap.
