Haflong: The Northeast Frontier Railway in association with state government and local authorities wanted to take active participation in tourism development in Dima Hasao, the only hill district of Assam in true sense disclosed Sri Anshul Gupta, General Manager, N F Railway on Tuesday at Haflong.
GM Gupta inspected old Lower Haflong Station along with other places of near Haflong to explore the feasibility to make tourist spots considering beautiful location and weather. Answering the questions of media persons he categorically stated that no heritage line is being taken into consideration but some spots are being considered to make heritage site in view of tourism development and to help locals in building tourism industry in Dima Hasao. He also appreciated the natural beauty and rich culture and tradition of the population.
In the evening, a reception ceremony was also held at the Railway Officers’ Guest House at Haflong wherein several ethnic groups performed their traditional dances which was appreciated by all.
