The country will be free from unmanned level crossings on Railway tracks in next few weeks, the government said on Friday.
In reply to a question in Rajya Sabha, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal informed the House, there has been a significant decrease in the number of accidents following the elimination of unmanned level crossings.
He said, only three accidents have been reported in the last nine months. The Minister said, nearly 3,500 such crossings have been eliminated as per the data available till the 18th of December last year.
