Mumbai: Improving Schools with SEEK, an initiative of the OmniActive Improving Lives Foundation (OILF), in partnership with Rangeet, supported by Nirlon Ltd. and OmniActive Health Technologies, is expanding to 180 schools across Mumbai this academic year. The initiative brings the Social Emotional & Ecological Knowledge (SEEK)© curriculum into daily classroom life, to prepare children for the future by building a breadth of skills.
The expansion builds on an existing network of BMC CBSE schools and private-aided schools by taking the SEEK curriculum to more than 131 BMC SSC schools across 13 wards in Mumbai this year, significantly expanding its presence among the city’s schoolchildren.
This marks the next phase of this journey with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the Improving Schools with SEEK initiative, which began with the introduction of SEEK™ in BMC schools in 2025. The program was introduced to complement BMC’s efforts towards holistic, future-ready education, focusing on skills including empathy, confidence, critical thinking, digital citizenship, wellbeing and ecological responsibility.
“Our experience has been very positive. It’s being implemented across roughly 150 municipal schools under our administration, reaching children from diverse communities across Mumbai. Teachers have engaged readily with the curriculum and the support provided, and we have observed enthusiasm among students and positive engagement in classrooms. The programme is practical for a large municipal school system: it is delivered through our own teachers, requires no devices in children’s hands, and integrates into the school day without disruption. We have found OILF and Rangeet to be committed and professional partners, responsive to the needs of a large public school system, and we are glad to see the value this partnership is bringing to our students,” said Dr Prachi Jambhekar, Deputy Municipal Commissioner (Education), BMC, Mumbai.
“As we transition to our second year, growing our presence to roughly 150 BMC schools across CBSE and SSC boards, alongside our existing work with 30 private-aided schools, we can’t help but focus on what matters most – the enthusiasm and partnership of the teachers; and the joy SEEK brings to the classroom and students. We are sincerely grateful to the BMC for including us in their journey of bringing cutting edge, inclusive and experiential learning to their schools which develops wellbeing and human skills. And we thank our corporate partners Nirlon and Omniactive Health Technologies for their vision and stewardship,” said Simran Mulchandani, CEO & Co-founder, Rangeet.
Rushva Parihar, Head, OmniActive Improving Lives Foundation added “We have spent decades measuring educational progress through enrolment, attendance and academic performance. But we have paid far less attention to whether children are developing the confidence to express themselves, the empathy to understand others, or the judgement to navigate an increasingly complex world. These are not supplementary skills; they are fundamental to the kind of adults and citizens our education system produces. At the OmniActive Improving Lives Foundation, we see Improving Schools with SEEK as an opportunity to address this gap within the public education system, rather than outside it. Reaching 180 schools is an important milestone, but the real measure of success will be whether this kind of learning becomes an enduring part of every child’s education.”
The program’s impact is being reflected in classrooms, with teachers highlighting how SEEK™ makes learning more interactive and connects foundational skills to everyday experiences.
Bhima Shankar Shahane, Vile Parle English MPS, said: “The Rangeet app’s SEEK™ activities are very useful for children and will greatly enhance interactive communication. Through this curriculum, we will also be able to teach children a lot about Environmental Science. Therefore, everyone should try to use this app properly to teach.”
Ankita Shirke, Vile Parle English MPS, said: “Through books, we give children a lot of knowledge, but foundational skills, which even we ourselves may not always know, can be taught through the Rangeet app. We have also learned foundational skills from the SEEK curriculum. We can also tell children why these skills are necessary and how they will benefit them.”
Kavita Gupta, MPS CBSE Ashish Talao, said: “Rangeet makes learning fun, creative and interesting. It helps us understand concepts through activities and practical experiences, while improving teamwork and communication skills and connecting the classroom with real-life experiences. Overall, Rangeet provides a positive and enriching learning experience for children.”
SEEK™ is aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023, and develops knowledge, voice and agency around wellbeing, digital citizenship, societal equity and ecological sustainability. It can be integrated into subjects including languages, science, social studies and environmental studies.
This program’s initial BMC rollout began with direct student engagement at the inauguration of the BMC Malvani Township School, where students explored empathy, resilience and ecological responsibility through stories, songs and games.
The expansion to 180 schools in the city represents a significant step in making social-emotional learning, ecological awareness and foundational life skills a meaningful part of the education experience for children across Mumbai.
