The Committee of Parliament on Official Language conducted a high-level inspection of the Indian Maritime University (IMU) Mumbai Port Campus (MPC) today. The review, held in Pune alongside other Central Government departments, focused on the progressive use of Hindi as the Official Language (Rajbhasha) in administrative and academic spheres.
The inspection was led by Shri Bhartruhari Mahtab, Hon’ble MP (Lok Sabha) and Deputy Chairman of the Committee, and Shri (Dr.) Dinesh Sharma, Hon’ble MP (Rajya Sabha) and Convener of the First Sub-Committee, along with other distinguished Members of Parliament.
Key representatives from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) included Ms. Priti Nath, Senior Economic Adviser, and Smt. Sangeeta Topno, Deputy Director (Rajbhasha).

The Committee evaluated the university’s adherence to the Official Language Policy, providing constructive guidance on further integrating Rajbhasha within the maritime sector. The university reaffirmed its commitment to promoting the use of Hindi while maintaining its excellence in global maritime training.
