PM inaugurates, lays foundation stone of various projects in Jharkhand, Bihar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a slew of projects pertaining to health, education, water supply and sanitation worth over 3,300 crore rupees at a function in Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand this afternoon. He inaugurated three medical college buildings through a remote in Hazaribagh, Dumka and Palamu. The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for four 500-bedded hospitals in these districts besides Jamshedpur.

He inaugurated three rural water supply schemes in Hazaribagh and one in Ramgarh. He also inaugurated women engineering college building in Ramgarh, the Sahibganj Sewerage Treatment Plant, and the Madhusudan Ghat, under the Namami Gange initiative. He also gave beneficiaries the keys of their houses under Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said, health is directly related to clean water and his government is trying its best to provide the best quality water to the state. He lauded the Jharkhand government for its fast implementation of ‘Swachh Abhiyan.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various infrastructure and development projects worth over 33,000 crore rupees in Bihar. He laid the foundation stone of Patna Metro Rail Project at a cost of over 13,000 crore rupees through a remote at a function at Barauni in Begusarai district. The project would be completed by 2024.

Paying homage to the martyrs of Pulwana attack, Sanjay Kumar Sinha and Ratan Thakur from Bihar, the Prime Minister said, the fire that is raging in the hearts of people over the incident, is also raging in his heart. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Modi said, Bihar and eastern India have the capacity not only to match but exceed the growth potential of the rest of the country. He said Bihar will become a new focus area to boost the development of the country.

Mr Modi said the projects launched today will bring a big change in the lives of the people. The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for medical colleges at Chhapra and Purnea and also for the upgradation of the government medical colleges at Bhagalpur and Gaya.

 He reiterated that the NDA government was giving a lot of importance to the health sector. He said the day is a historic one in terms of health services in Bihar. Mr Modi also said the work is going on for establishing another All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the state besides the existing one in Patna

The Prime Minister also initiated construction and dedicated a number of projects in the oil and gas sector worth over 15,000 crore rupees. These include gas pipeline, expansion of Barauni Refinery, revival of Barauni fertiliser unit, ATF aviation fuel plant, extension of Paradip-Haldia-Durgapur LPG pipeline to Patna and Muzaffarpur, Urja Ganga Project City Gas Distribution at Patna.

He said these projects will significantly augment the availability of energy in Patna city and the region. The projects will also boost fertilizer production, and significantly enhance medical and sanitation facilities in Bihar. Mr Modi laid the foundation stone for the first phase of Jagdishpur Haldia and Bokaro Dhamra gas pipeline project under the Prime Minister’s package for Bihar. He also kick-started work of several development projects of civic works, Clean Ganga Mission and Railways.

The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of 22 projects under AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) mission worth over 1,400 crore rupees. Under the mission, a drinking water pipeline would be laid. Mr Modi also dedicated the first phase of Patna River Front Development covering 16 ghats of Ganga and laid the foundation stone of network for sewerage projects in Patna and Bhagalpur.
