New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Swiss President Guy Parmelin will address the 2nd India-EFTA Prosperity Summit, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam today, to mark the first anniversary of the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA).
The Summit will bring together senior government officials, industry leaders and key stakeholders from India and the EFTA States, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein, to further strengthen economic cooperation, foster business partnerships and unlock new opportunities in trade, investment, technology collaboration and innovation.
With the theme “Building a USD 100 Billion Investment Partnership, creating 1 Million Jobs in India”, the summit will focus on reviewing TEPA progress, announcing new investments, strengthening industry-government collaboration, and exploring opportunities across key sectors. Mr Parmelin is on a three-day visit to India and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) to mark the first anniversary of the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA), which entered into force on October 1, 2025.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held bilateral talks with Swiss Confederation president Guy Parmelin at Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Monday and inked several agreements in the field of promotion and collaboration on transportation technologies, mobility systems, and infrastructure. In a joint press meet, Prime Minister Modi appreciated Swiss President Guy Parmelin’s commitment to India-Switzerland relations. He said that India implemented the historic Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement with the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) last October.
Speaking at the press conference, Swiss President Guy Parmelin said India-Switzerland ties were based on shared democratic values as well as on trust and mutual respect. He added that his visit is a stepping stone towards further growth, deepening and strengthening of our close, broad and long-standing partnership. He also highlighted the significance of the first anniversary of TEPA’s implementation, saying it was a moment to assess the progress made by the two sides while looking towards future cooperation.
