PMO holds high level meeting to take stock of situation arising out of land subsidence in Joshimath town of Uttarakhand

New Deelhi: Prime Minister’s Office on Sunday held a high level meeting to take stock of situation arising out of land subsidence in Joshimath town of Uttarakhand. Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Dr P K Mishra chaired the meeting with Cabinet Secretary and other senior government officials and members of National Disaster Management Authority at the Prime Minister’s Office in New Delhi.  Agencies and experts from Government of India  are assisting the State Government  to prepare short, medium and long term plans

One team of National Disaster Response Force and four teams of State Disaster Response Force have already reached Joshimath and affected families are being shifted to safe locations. Secretary Border Management and Members of National Disaster Management Authority will  visit Uttarakhand tomorrow to assess the situation.

Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand briefed the  Prime Minister’s Office from Joshimath.

Team of experts from NDMA , National Institute of Disaster Management, Geological Survey of India, IIT Roorkee, Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, National Institute of Hydrology and Central Building Research Institute will study the cause and make recommendations.

Senior officers from state government of Uttarakhand and District Officials of Joshimath attended the meeting through Video Conference.
