GUWAHATI: Election strategist Prashant Kishore’s 22-member Team of I-PAC has been allegedly stopped by the police from leaving his hotel in Agartala. The team was in Agartala to conduct some surveys on the political situation and support the Trinamool Congress. Tripura police have been camping in and out of the hotel lobby since morning and are not allowing any of the 22 members of the I-PAC team. Police have not given any official reason for the custody, only claiming that the IPAC team violated covid norms. Tripura police detain prashant kishore’s I-PAC 22-member team in Agartala.

According to the report, I-PAC said the team had all necessary documents related to covid. West Tripura Manik Das said that “outsiders – about 22 people – were roaming around at different places.Since covid restrictions are in force, we are enquiring to confirm the reasons for their visit and stay in the city. They all went through the covid test on Monday, the report awaits. He further said that “the results of their (I- PAC members) RTPCR test will come tomorrow. He said that he had come here for some research work which is under investigation.

After the corona test results are received, a decision will be taken on their release”. Trinamool state unit chief Ashish Lal Singha has called it an “attack on democracy”. The TMC, which is strengthening its base in Tripura, had recently appointed Ashish Lal Singh as the party president in the state. The TMC believes the BJP is “scared” of it as the party is expanding its base across the country. Ashish Lal Singh said, “Today’s incident is very shocking and we are ashamed because it is not the culture of Tripura. The way the BJP government treats the I-PAC team. The miscreants started abusing him from 1 pm last night. When they were about to come out of the hotel, they were detained as if they were criminals. “His duty was only to contact the people of Tripura,” he added. In fact, the BJP government is scared of the Trinamool. He has felt that the strength of the Trinamool is gradually increasing day by day. More than 65,000 people have joined trinamool since June 2.
