President Murmu calls upon citizens to rise above personal interests and contribute to nation-building

Kurukshetra, November 1: President Droupadi Murmu has said that every citizen has a responsibility to contribute to social welfare and national development. She called upon people to rise above personal interests and work for the larger good of society and the nation.

The President was addressing the Balidan Shatabdi Samaroh marking the centenary of the sacrifice of Swami Shraddhanand at Gurukul Kurukshetra in Haryana.

Stressing that collective efforts are essential to achieve the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047, she emphasised the need to embrace modern knowledge, science, technology, innovation and entrepreneurship while taking pride in India’s rich cultural heritage.

President Murmu called upon people to follow the path of truth and morality. She said everyone must remain committed to their values even in difficult times. Determination, hard work and self-confidence, she added, can help achieve even the most challenging goals. Urging the youth to perform every task with dedication, honesty and sincerity, she said no work is insignificant.

Highlighting the life of Swami Shraddhanand, the President said he worked for social harmony and played an important role in India’s freedom struggle. His courage and fearlessness, she noted, gave new direction and strength to the freedom movement.
