Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, will visit Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu on 11th March 2026 and inaugurate/dedicate and lay the foundation stone for various Energy, Petroleum & Natural Gas, Road transport & Highways, Railways and Rural development projects.
Flagging off of New Train Services
As part of the programme, the Hon’ble Prime Minister will flag off five new train services, including two Amrit Bharat Express trains from Tiruchchirappalli
Among the services to be flagged off is the Nagercoil–Charlapalli Amrit Bharat Express, which will improve connectivity between southern Tamil Nadu and Telangana while serving several districts across Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. The Podanur (Coimbatore)–Dhanbad Amrit Bharat Express will strengthen rail links between southern India and the mineral and industrial belt of eastern India. These modern trains are designed to provide enhanced passenger comfort and improved travel experience with economical fare benefitting middle and low income families. These trains boost long-distance connectivity between Tamil Nadu and regions across southern, eastern and central India. These services will improve access to major economic centres, educational hubs and pilgrimage destinations while offering faster, affordable and comfortable travel options for passengers. The trains will connect districts across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Karnataka, Odisha and Jharkhand, benefitting students, workers, traders and tourists and further strengthening regional economic integration.
The Hon’ble Prime Minister will also flag off the Rameswaram–Mangaluru Express and the Tirunelveli–Mangaluru Express, which will enhance connectivity along the western coastal corridor and facilitate easier travel between Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka. These services will support tourism, trade and the movement of people across key coastal districts.
Additionally, a new train service between Mayiladuthurai-Thiruvarur-Karaikkudi will be flagged off, strengthening regional connectivity within Tamil Nadu and benefitting daily commuters, students and local businesses.
Local ceremonial functions will be held at Nagercoil, Podanur, Rameswaram, Tirunelveli, and Mayiladuthurai. Souvenir passes will be issued to select categories of passengers like students, press & media, etc., for travel by the inaugural specials of the five trains flagged off by the Prime Minister. The inaugural specials will be accorded a warm welcome at enroute stations by local dignitaries, elected representatives, rail passengers and general public.
