Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the Government of India is making every possible effort to provide assistance in the affected areas of Nepal, and the railways are also part of this effort. While virtually inaugurating the Nepalganj Road-Nanpara-Bahraich rail section today, the Union Minister said that Railway officials are continuously working in coordination with district and state authorities and the Ministry of External Affairs. He added that wherever rescued passengers have arrived, the Railways have made continuous efforts to help them reach their destinations.
Union Railway Minister informed that the opening of the new rail section would provide passengers with more convenient transportation and boost regional connectivity and development. He added that with the completion of gauge conversion, several important locations, including Nanpara, Matera, Risiya, Bahraich, Babhanan, Nepalganj and Babaganj, would become better integrated with the wider railway network. Shri Vaishnaw also flagged off the Nepalganj Road-Varanasi City Special train on the newly inaugurated section. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also attended the inauguration programme held in Bahraich and said that the connectivity provided by the new rail section and train services is important not only for the security and convenience of the border areas but also for the overall prosperity of the region.
