Kokrajhar: Principal of a private English Medium School under Gossaigaon police station in Kokrajhar district was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for raping five (5) minor girls.
A Special Court in Kokrajhar on Tuesday convicted and sentenced David Bright Basumatary to life term rigorous imprisonment and Rs 20,000 fine u/s 6 of POCSO Act for the rape of five minor girl in 2022.
The Special Court in a Special Case no 20/22, Gossaigaon P.S 85/22 awarded the accused David Bright Basumatary life term imprisonment and Rs 20,000 fine.
The Special judge J Koch pronounced the accused Basumatary guilty of raping five minor girls in his school hostel. The accused David Bright Basumatary along with his wife runs a private English Medium school in remote Gossaigaon subdivision of Kokrajhar district.
Special public prosecutor Manjit Kumar Ghose said the accused in his 60s sexually abused five minor girls in the school hostel run by him on several ocassion.
