Screening & medical check-up camp for identification of persons with disabilities organised by The People’s Aid

Kokrajhar : A screening and medical check-up camp for identification of persons with disabilities was held today at Pachim Tamulpur Higher Secondary School, Kalakuchi, in Baksa district.

Organised by The People’s Aid NGO in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department, and Health and Family Welfare Department, BTR, Gautam Das, Executive member for Social Welfare attended the programme as chief guest. Altogether 252 persons  were screened out of which 154 has been qualified to get the issuance of disability certificate to avail various government schemes.

Five doctors specialized in ENT, MD, Eye, Surgeon and Orthopedic conducted the screening and check up.

President of The People’s Aid Nava Kumar Basumatary along with executive members Maidam Narzary, Mahar Swrang Borgayary and Sabaikar Basumatry coordinated the event.  The event was also volunteered by Brojo Kumar Basumatry and Suraj Basumatry.

President of The People’s Aid Nava Kumar Basumatary said the screening and medical check-up camp for identification of persons with disabilities will continue in other parts of BTR with an estimated target upto 18000 beneficiaries.

Joint Director cum CHD Social Welfare Department Monideepa Saikia, DSWO Simanta Choudhury were among those present in the programme.
