Thiruvananthapuram: The second G-20 Empowerment and Progression of Women’s Economic Representation EMPOWER meeting under India’s presidency of the G-20 will conclude here today. The theme of the three-day meeting organized by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development was ‘Women’s Empowerment: A Win-Win for Equity and Economy.
During the meeting, discussions were held in the areas of women entrepreneurship, leadership development and financial empowerment. The meeting also discussed the role of health in women empowerment, participation of women in science and non-traditional fields etc. G-20 EMPOWER 2023 Chairperson Dr. Sangeetha Reddy informed that a Digital Fluency Platform and Mentorship platform for Women in 121 languages will be set up. Union Women and Child Development Secretary Indivar Pandey, senior officials of Central and State Governments and other eminent persons are participating in the meeting. Thematic discussions and deliberations in the various sessions will be reflected in the Communique of G20 EMPOWER and will be provided as recommendations to G20 leaders.
