Mumbai: The Sensex and the Nifty on Wednesday witnessed modest gains. Index of top 30 companies at Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex, ended above the 61,250 mark. The index of top 50 companies at National Stock Exchange, closed above the 18,000 level. Both stocks rose amid mixed global cues.
The Sensex climbed 243 points, or 0.40 per cent, to finish at 61,275. The Nifty-50 also surged 86 points, or 0.48 per cent, to settle at 18,016.
Gold prices were trading at 56,200 rupees per 10 gram at Multi Commodity Exchange for April contracts. Silver prices were trading at 65,300 rupees per kilogram for March Contracts when reports last came in.
And… In intra-day trade, Brent crude was trading at 84 dollars and 50 cents per barrel when reports last came in.
