Shaping Future Talent: University of Southampton Delhi hosts Talent Bridge Summit

University of Southampton Delhi hosted the inaugural edition of the Talent Bridge Summit: Shaping Futures 2026, bringing together distinguished industry leaders, academic experts, students and university leadership for a day of meaningful dialogue on the future of talent, employability and workforce transformation. Designed as a platform to strengthen industry-academia collaboration, the summit focused on addressing evolving workplace expectations, emerging skills and the changing landscape of careers in a rapidly transforming global economy. Through engaging discussions, strategic insights and collaborative conversations, the event highlighted the importance of preparing students not only for the jobs of today, but also for the opportunities of tomorrow.

The summit commenced with a roundtable discussion chaired by Professor Abhilash Nair, Director of Research and Enterprise at the University, on the theme, “India as a Global Talent Hub: Reimagining the role of industry–academia partnerships.” Industry representatives, employers and academic stakeholders exchanged perspectives on building stronger partnerships, creating future-ready talent ecosystems and enabling meaningful learning pathways for students.

The afternoon featured an interactive Executive Roundtable chaired by Dr Vishal Talwar, Chief Operating Officer, which brought together students, staff and industry professionals for discussions around three key themes: Rethinking student learning journeys, Digital first workforce, and Future of work. These conversations explored the growing importance of adaptability, digital fluency, experiential learning and lifelong skill development, while offering valuable insights into emerging hiring trends, workforce expectations and the evolving relationship between education and employability.

Senior HR leaders from JLL, Dell Technologies, Investec, NDTV, MakeMyTrip, NatWest, Knight Frank, HSBC GCC, BT Group, Osram, Gemini Solutions, and other leading organisations contributed to the discussions, sharing industry perspectives on talent acquisition, workforce transformation, employability, and the future skills required to succeed in an evolving world of work.

One of the highlights of the summit was the active participation of students, from engaging directly with professionals during networking sessions to showcasing innovative ideas and projects through Student Display Desks, students had the opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to industry perspectives and future career pathways. The event concluded with an open Q&A and networking session, fostering deeper conversations, collaboration and knowledge exchange between attendees from diverse sectors and disciplines. The overwhelmingly positive response from participants reflected the importance of creating spaces where academia and industry can come together to collectively shape the future of work and talent development.

At the University of Southampton Delhi, employability is embedded as a core component of every programme with learning mapped against 14 employability skills. Consulting, and Oxford International, among other.
