New Delhi: In a significant stride towards a greener and more sustainable future, Smiling Tree, the renowned environmental initiative founded by Dr. Mukesh Kwatra, has partnered with Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology (GTBIT) for a large-scale plantation drive on campus.
Smiling Tree Foundation successfully planted nearly 500 saplings yesterday at Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology (GTBIT), Rajouri Garden, Delhi. The event was graced by S.Amarjit Singh, Chairman of GTBIT, Dr. Rominder Kaur Randhawa, Director of GTBIT, Prof. Dr. P.P. Vermani, and other esteemed faculty members. As a gesture of appreciation, Smiling Tree gifted planters to all participants.
While S. Harmeet Singh Kalka Ji, President of DSGMC, and S. Jagdeep Singh Khalon Ji, General Secretary of DSGMC, could not attend due to prior commitments, they conveyed their heartfelt wishes for the success of the plantation drive.
This initiative marks another meaningful step towards a greener and healthier environment.
Dr. Rominder Kaur Randhawa, Director of GTBIT, played a pivotal role in coordinating the initiative and emphasized the importance of engaging youth in ecological efforts.
“It is our responsibility to instill sustainable values in the next generation. We are proud to collaborate with Smiling Tree in nurturing not just trees, but a culture of environmental stewardship. We are deeply thankful to Smiling Tree for making our campus green by planting thousands of plants over the last couple of years,” she stated.
Adding further strength to the initiative, Sardar Amarjit Singh, also encouraged young minds to take climate action seriously.
“Planting trees is a sewa — a selfless service to humanity and the environment. This drive is a reflection of our values and collective responsibility,” said Sardar Amarjit Singh.
Dr. Mukesh Kwatra, Founder of Smiling Tree, expressed heartfelt gratitude to GTBIT for their enthusiastic participation and commitment.
“At Smiling Tree, we believe in action backed by awareness. This partnership with GTBIT is a perfect example of educational institutions coming together for a greater cause. Every sapling planted today is a promise of a better tomorrow,” remarked Dr. Kwatra.
The event concluded with the plantation of over 500 saplings across the GTBIT campus. The selection included native shade-giving trees, flowering plants, and fruit-bearing varieties—chosen for both their ecological significance and aesthetic value.
This collaboration marks another milestone in Smiling Tree’s ongoing mission to create a cleaner, greener, and healthier environment across Delhi-NCR and beyond.
