Smiling Tree, a leading environmental NGO, joined hands with Hindu College as the Environment Partner for the International Day of Yoga celebrations held at the college lawns. The event was organized under the aegis of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and in line with the principles laid down by the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India.
The yoga session witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 100 students, faculty members, and staff. The event was graced by Prof. Anju Srivastava, Principal of Hindu College, who emphasized the importance of integrating physical, mental, and environmental well-being in student life. Faculty members across departments came together to encourage students to adopt yoga and eco-conscious living as part of their daily routine.
As Environment Partner, Smiling Tree set up a green awareness corner and distributed saplings to students and participants, reinforcing the message of nurturing both inner and outer ecosystems. The college lawns were adorned with eco-friendly banners promoting sustainability and holistic wellness.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Mukesh Kwatra, Founder of Smiling Tree, said, “Yoga and nature share a deep, inherent connection. Just as yoga harmonizes the body and mind, planting trees and protecting our environment harmonize our existence with the Earth. We are proud to be associated with Hindu College, one of India’s premier institutions, to celebrate this day of balance, awareness, and action.”
The collaboration between Smiling Tree and Hindu College highlighted the synergy between environmental stewardship and the ancient Indian practice of yoga, encouraging youth to lead more mindful and sustainable lifestyles.
