Chennai : Bringing together over 1,000 medical luminaries, leading researchers, academicians and healthcare professionals from across India, SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre (SRM MCH&RC), SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Kattankulathur, is set to host NAMSCON 2026, the 66th Annual Conference and Convocation of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (India), from October 8–11, 2026, in Chennai. Centred on the theme ‘Synergy of Science and Technology in Healthcare for a Healthier Tomorrow’, this conference will serve as a platform for scientific exchange, interdisciplinary collaboration and discussions on emerging innovations shaping the future of healthcare.
Pre-conference workshops will be held on October 8, followed by national symposia, keynote addresses, National CME sessions, and oral and poster presentations from October 9–11.
Founded in 1961, NAMS is a non-statutory apex body advising the Government of India on health policy and planning, with over 1,000 Fellows and 8,000 Members. NAMSCON 2026 marks its 66th Annual Conference and the first to be hosted at SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre.
The scientific programme will cover antimicrobial resistance, CAR-T cell therapy, biosimilars and biologics, senolytic therapies for healthy longevity, rare genetic disorders, emerging infections, pandemic preparedness, the Indian diabetes phenotype, and medical education innovations. Panel discussions will address robotics in modern surgery, organ donation and transplantation, and evolving tuberculosis management.
Eight specialised workshops on October 8 will offer hands-on training in trauma care, neonatal resuscitation, AI in clinical research, spine surgery, endoscopic gastroenterology, palliative care, diagnostic reasoning, and physician entrepreneurship, led by SRM MCH&RC faculty and invited experts.

NAMSCON 2026 is organised under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) R. Jayanthi, Organising Chairperson and Dean, SRM MCH&RC, and Dr. Melvin George, Organising Secretary and Head, Centre for Clinical Pharmacology and Clinical Trials Research (CCP & CCTR), with Prof. (Dr.) Rajarajan Swaminathan as State Convenor. Dr. M. Srinivas, Member (Health), NITI Aayog, Government of India, will deliver a plenary lecture titled “Good Governance for Transforming Medical Institutions in India & Quality Research during Residency”, followed by an interaction with undergraduate and postgraduate student residents on research during residency.
