Sun PhuQuoc Airways Celebrates Inaugural Flight from Singapore to Phu Quoc

SINGAPORE  — Sun PhuQuoc Airways today celebrated the launch of its daily service between Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) and Phu Quoc International Airport (PQC), the only full-service offering on the route.

Operated by an Airbus A321neo, the daily direct flight, 9G720 departs Singapore at 2:20pm local time and arrives in Phu Quoc at 3:05pm. The return flight, 9G721, departs Phu Quoc at 10:35am and arrives at Singapore Changi Airport at 1:20pm local time.

Mr Yeak Choon Hoon, a Singaporean traveller who arrived in Phu Quoc on the inaugural flight with his spouse and a group of friends, said: “We had wanted to visit Phu Quoc for the past two years, but without a direct full-service flight, we kept putting our plans on hold. When Sun PhuQuoc Airways announced the new service, we were excited to finally plan our trip.

“The launch promotion was a deal we couldn’t resist, especially with complimentary experiences including the Hon Thom Cable Car, theme park, water park and access to Kiss Bridge. We enjoyed the full-service flight experience and convenience of flying directly to Phu Quoc with checked baggage allowance, and are looking forward to exploring the island,” he added.

Bringing the “Resort in the Sky” experience to Singapore travellers

More than simply introducing a new route, Sun PhuQuoc Airways aims to ensure that each passenger’s holiday begins from the moment they start their journey.

Across its network, the airline is developing its signature “Resort in the Sky” concept, with the ambition of progressively elevating its services towards international five-star standards. From the Sun Executive Lounge and new-generation aircraft cabins to the signature La Festa fragrance, inspired by the Mediterranean-style five-star hotel of the same name within Sun Group’s ecosystem in Phu Quoc, wireless in-flight entertainment, checked baggage allowance, curated meals and attentive service, each touchpoint is designed to deliver a seamless and refined travel experience.

Exclusive privileges across the Sun Group ecosystem

The experience continues after passengers land in Phu Quoc. Travellers flying from Singapore to Phu Quoc with Sun PhuQuoc Airways will receive a complimentary Sun World Hon Thom Cable Car ticket, access to the WOW Pass priority lane, and discounts of up to 30% on accommodation, dining, spa, entertainment and leisure experiences across the Sun Group ecosystem.

Members of Sun Signature, Sun Group’s loyalty programme, can earn points on each flight and redeem them for a range of privileges across the Sun Group ecosystem. The membership cards for the two highest tiers can also be used as Visa payment cards issued by National Citizen Bank (NCB), allowing members to make payments worldwide.

Expanding Phu Quoc’s regional connectivity

The Singapore–Phu Quoc service marks Sun PhuQuoc Airways’ fourth international route, following the launch of services to Taipei, Seoul and Hong Kong. It further strengthens the airline’s presence across Asia’s major aviation and tourism hubs while improving access to one of Vietnam’s fastest-growing island destinations.

The new route is further supported by the strategic partnership between Sun Group and Changi Airports International. Under this partnership, Phu Quoc International Airport is being developed as a “destination airport”, with the aim of creating a more seamless passenger journey from the airport to the island’s tourism, hospitality and entertainment experiences.

Following the launch of its Singapore service, Sun PhuQuoc Airways will commence flights to Bangkok on 8 August 2026. The airline is also progressing plans to expand its international network to Malaysia, India, Japan, Russia and Kazakhstan.

To support its growing network, Sun PhuQuoc Airways plans to expand its fleet to 32 aircraft in 2026 and introduce Airbus A330 wide-body aircraft from September 2026. These investments will provide the foundation for the airline to develop medium- and long-haul services, advance its “Rise to the World” strategy and contribute to positioning Phu Quoc as an emerging regional gateway for tourism and trade.
