Tamil Nadu govt allows stand-alone gyms to open from Aug 10

In Tamil Nadu, the stand-alone gyms have been permitted to function from the tenth of this month. A statement issued by the state government in Chennai yesterday said that those under the age of fifty will be permitted to visit the gyms. The standard operating procedures for the gyms for preventing the Covid-19 infection are expected to be issued soon.

Meanwhile, the state has witnessed 5175 new COVID-19 cases yesterday taking the total to two lakh and 73 thousand. Nearly two lakh fifteen thousand of them have returned home after recovery.

In Tamil Nadu, 3374 pregnant mothers have been confirmed Covid-19 positive since the break-out of the pandemic. Most of them have returned home with their infants and the others are all stable, under hospital care for the delivery. The state Health Minister Dr C Vijayabhaskar said some of the mothers underwent caesarean operation while others had normal delivery. Talking to reporters yesterday in Chennai, he said an encouraging factor is that the mothers and their babies are now safe. Meanwhile, the state health workers have enumerated the expectant mothers and are doing the follow up to ensure their safety.
