Hyderabad: Musharaff Faruqui, CMD, Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Ltd said the Green Energy Policy of the Government of the Government of Telangana is getting ready and will be released soon.
He was the chief guest at the valedictory function of the International Conference on Clean Energy organised, by the Energy Committee of the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI), in support of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India.
Telangana has huge potential in terms of Green Energy. Telangana’s potential is unique. It is a landlocked state. It has specific advantages and challenges. It is the only state in India which gives free electricity to agriculture. It is also the reason why shifting from electricity to green energy is also challenging the officer added.

Earlier in the day the inaugural function was graced by Ajay Mishra, former Special Chief Secretary, Energy Department, Govt of Telangana. Addressing the 400-plus gathering drawn from 10 difference countries, he said MSMEs must get proportionate support and benefits from the government. One in seven is employed by MSMEs. MSMEs do not have any option except to go for clean energy.
We have 26 lakh MSMEs in Telangana and this conference was aimed at encouraging MSMEs to adopt clean Energy Sources. This is the era of clean energy, green energy. This is the future, he declared. The Government plays an important role in energy transition and decarbonisation, he said urging the government to provide necessary support and infrastructure for a smooth transition said Vinod Kumar Agarwal, Chairman of the Energy Committee of the FTCCI.
Suresh Kumar Singhal, President of the FTCCI in his opening remarks said the need for energy transition is a hot topic not just in India, but all the nations of the world. Infrastructure transition is key to the energy transition and government plays a major role in bringing this change. The energy transition and the decarbonization of industry are the primary catalysts for the infrastructure transition. I take this opportunity to appeal to the GOVERNMENT and all other top officials in the energy department and Ministry of MSME to provide the industry, particularly MSMEs, the necessary support for a smooth transition to clean energy, he said.
Srinivas Cherla, Director of Sustainability of Research and Innovation Circle of Hyderabad, the nodal agency for Hyderabad Science and Technology said the total energy consumption of Telangana is 70K GWh. The MSME energy consumption is 25% (6.1k to 7k GWh). The renewable component in MSME energy consumption is sadly 0.60-1k GWh. Telangana needs to open up the power sector and revamp policy. Green makes economic sense and provides business sustainability, he said.
Dr Sunchu Glory Swarupa, Director General of the National Institute for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (Ni-MSME) said MSMEs contribute 30% to the Indian GDP, 50% to exports, generate 20 crore employment. Together they produce 6000 products. In 1960 the world witnessed the Green Revolution, the 1970 White Revolution, 1985- to 1990 Blue Revolution and it is the time for the Clean Energy Revolution.
